A fantasy universe designed for educational role-play with children aged 8 to 12. Get to know the world, see how the game is played and find out why children don't want to stop.
Leryenne has cities with a history, factions with competing interests, trade routes, dungeons, underground markets and secrets you can only discover by playing. It isn't a downloaded map: it's a universe built from scratch so that decisions in the game carry the same weight as those in real life.
Three sessions in, a child already knows the streets of Tar'eddan, knows which faction it's best not to betray and has a story of their own in the world.
That's what makes it special: children believe in it. And when you believe in something, you really learn.
The Rolin game is a paid programme, and it's coming soon. In the meantime, the World of Leryenne, the free story universe where the game takes place, is open for you to explore with your child.
You don't need to know anything about educational role-playing. Neither the children nor the session leader need any previous experience.
Rolin's characters aren't superheroes. They have clear abilities and real limitations. An Explorer is quick but impulsive. A Mediator understands people but steers clear of direct conflict.
That mix of strengths and weaknesses is what makes the group need to cooperate. No one can solve everything alone. And that's exactly what we want them to practise.
Beneath the cities lie hidden markets, secret guilds and passageways known only to those who've been playing for a while. Missions lead into deeper, more complex areas as the group gains experience.
Each level of depth in the world reflects a higher level of emotional and social complexity. The most experienced players face the hardest dilemmas.
Rolin is played on a game platform designed for the Rolin Method: a digital game board projected on a screen during the in-person session. It isn't a video game. It's a visual tool for the session leader.
Children don't each stare at their own screen. They're together as a group, around a digital game board that shows the map, the characters and the situations. The screen is the backdrop. The real game happens between people.
When you sign up to Rolin, you get everything you need to start from day one, whether you're leading sessions for the first time or have spent years in the classroom.
We're filming a complete session, from setting the mission to the closing reflection. You'll be able to watch real children making real decisions in Leryenne.
